Local rules
Missouri has no state credential for garage door work, so the local position is what matters. The City of Springfield runs its own contractor registration and trade certification programme through Building Development Services. A straight door-for-door replacement in an existing opening generally does not need a permit; changing the opening size, altering the header, structural work or a new opener circuit does. Addresses outside the city limits fall to Greene County, or to Christian County for Nixa and Ozark.
